War in the East
War in the East is a table top wargame, which places you in charge of the Axis armies in World War II as they try to take Russia and hold it through the Russian Winter against the onslaught of the Russian forces.
Can the well-trained Axis armies defeat the badly organised, but much larger Russian Armies?
The Axis have to deal with changing morale of their troops as time marches on and the Winter sets in (without much winter supplies) as well as the Technological advances made by the Russians who are defending their Motherland.
War in the East consisted of 3 different scenarios which were independent and could be purchased separately, where you controlled the German army against the computer controlled Red Army:
- Barbarossa 1941 - the initial invasion of Russia by Nazi Germany.
- Stalingrad 1942 - the siege of Stalingrad, where the Germans tried to cut off supplies to the Red Army and force a surrender.
- Destruction of Army Group Centre 1944 - following the breakout by the Red Army, the German army has to try to hold its ground and prevent the Red Army from reaching the home of the Third Reich.
A much enhanced version of the game was written by RWAP Software and released as War In The East MKII.
